Family Updates

This is just a quick update to let you all know that Avery had her follow up check up with the doctor on Monday morning, and her ear infections are FINALLY gone! Yahoo! Mommy is SO excited. A whole month of having ear infections was terrible, so I am very thankful she is healthy again. Now, the bad news is that she is cutting more teeth, so her sleep schedule is off again.

I wanted to take a minute to congratulate my younger sister, Shelby and her husband Obi on the purchase of their new home! They have re-located to the northern end of Jacksonville called Yulee. We are very happy for them as they start their journey of settling into a new home and expanding their family with baby Olivia next year ( hopefully). Brian and I helped them in moving over the weekend, but I neglected to take pictures of their new home just yet ( shame on me). Pictures to come in the near future...

Congrats Shelby, Obi, Blaine and Noah!

Congratulations and Avery News...

Congratulations to my nephew, Caleb! He graduated from University Christian on May 20th and we are SO proud of him!!! Caleb has received a football scholarship playing at Kentucky Christian University this next school year. As a matter of fact, he will be leaving us ( I mean Jacksonville) sometime in July to get started with training for football season. He just returned home from Kentucky after registering for classes, so we are all so thrilled for him and his new adventures in college!!!

My camera was not cooperative with the lighting at the graduation ceremony, but here are some photos anyway. We love you Caleb!

I took Avery to the doctor this past week, and to our surprise, she still has her ear infections! The doctor assured me that they were finally on the mend, but prescribed one more antibiotic just to be sure we got rid of them once and for all ( hopefully). Once again, we have a check up with the doctor next week, just to be sure. Avery has been a really good sport through all of her recent doctor's appointments, so I am thankful for that.

Brian is also approaching the end of the school year for 2011. We FINALLY have some good news on the job front... Brian found out yesterday that he IS going to be able to keep his teaching position for the next school year. He was surplussed, but because he has his ESE certification, he will be able to transfer over to a different subject area. So, thank you God for this great news!!!

We are starting to prepare for our family vacation to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary in a few more weeks! We are so excited to be traveling to the Florida Keys with Brian's parents and look forward to some much needed time off to spend with the family. There will be lots of fishing (and relaxing by the pool) in our near future (HAHA).

I took a recent photo of Avery this morning, so I thought I would share with you... where has our baby gone? She is definitely a BIG girl now. More pictures to come, as Mommy has been lazy with the picture taking lately...

Updates on Avery

It is so hard to believe that 2011 is almost half way over... May has been quite a struggle for Avery, as she has been continuously fighting some ear infections for the last 3 weeks. We've now had a single ear infection, which led to a double ear infection... and they are still lingering today as well. We are on our 3rd antibiotic to get these suckers cleared up. So, we shall see in about 10 more days whether they are gone for good or not.

Last Tuesday, May 17th, Aver had her first trip to the ER (very scary for Mommy and Daddy). She spiked a fever, due to her ear infections) and had a febrile seizure at daycare. Needless to say, she scared everyone at daycare as well as us beyond belief. We'd never heard of this kind of diagnosis before, however they are surprisingly VERY common in young children. So, from now on we will be keeping a close watch on her temperature. Avery has been in good spirits and most would never even know that she was battling these ear infections at all! She is of course ready to be done with all of the doctor visits...

Lost in Time

Yes, I know... I have fallen off of the band wagon on this one. It has been FAR too long since my last post. I was on a roll for a little while, but then life just caught up with me I guess.

The Goochmonsters are back and I promise I will try my hardest to keep our blog posting up to date as events are happening.

The date is now May 11, 2011 (almost a year since my last posting, yikes!) and a lot has happened in the past year. We are finally moved and settled into our new (awesome) home! The dogs are even liking the new digs, as they have plenty of room to run and torture each other. We have plans to put up a fence in the backyard soon as well, so they will be in doggie heaven once that happens :)

It is hard to imagine, but Avery is now 18 months old! She is growing and getting smarter everyday. I can still remember the day we brought her home from the hospital, and it seems like a world of difference with our little angel between then and now. She is just such a joy to be around her and she has brought so much life into our world. We just had our Easter celebration a few weeks ago, and she LOVED her first egg hunt. Here are just a few of the pictures from Easter Sunday.

Mother's Day 2011 also just past in the last few days... and we had a GREAT time visiting the Jacksonville Zoo with Avery. It was her first (of many) trips to the zoo and we can't wait for our next visit. We were able to grab a little black jaguar for her also and we are working on naming "her baby" for her soon. I have a feeling this one is her favorite so far. I hope that all of the wonderful Mommies in our lives had a wonderful Mother's Day!

4th of July

The Gooch family had a wonderful 4th of July this year. We decided to take it easy and hang with everyone at the beach for several hours... and we got miss Avery in the water to play for a little bit. She loved every minute of it. We also decided to cook up some oysters at the house and set off some fireworks after it got dark. We all had a GREAT time!

Avery's first boo boo

Avery had her first boo boo at daycare yesterday... it appears as though she must have fallen onto a toy or something while playing. Poor baby. She is still in good spirits, but we can tell that it is sensitive to the touch. I took a little video to show the damages. It looks like she may have a black and blue eye for her first 4th of July celebration!

Our Anniversary

Four years ago today, I married the love of my life! It is so hard to believe how fast the time has passed for us. We want to thank all of our friends and family for your love and support these last 4 years.

Brian and I had plans to go beach cruising tonight, but it looks like this Fl weather will dampen our plans. We will have a nice night out to dinner to celebrate though.

Hope you all have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend!
